What is Artisan?
Artisan is a FREE, open-source software designed by coffee roasting experts. It provides powerful tools for the roasting community and works by connecting your roaster to a computer.
Artisan offers both flexibility for manual control and advanced automation for efficiency.

Basic Mode

  • Records and visualizes key roasting data such as bean temperature and environmental temperature
  • Enables roast profiling and replication, includes roast scheduling, unlimited curves, rate of rise projections, batch counter, and automated roast reproduction.
  • Supports various import/export formats.

Dynamic Mode (Advanced Automation)

  • Uses a PLC touchscreen system for precise control over burners, airflow, heat, and timing. Artisan acts as an interface, setting targets while the PLC manages hardware controls.
  • Supports advanced automation, including automatic coffee charging and discharge.

What is Cropster?
Cropster is a subscription and cloud based coffee management software platform built for roasters, producers, traders, and quality control teams. It’s designed to help manage, monitor, and optimize every stage of the coffee lifecycle, from green coffee to post-roast QC. Stages include Roast monitoring (data logging), profile management, quality control, inventory management, production planning, supply chain management and analytics and reporting.
Cropster does not have any options to control the machine like Artisan has, it only reads data.
