Does Coffee Help You Wake Up?

There are many myths about coffee. Some studies have discredited one of the tastiest drinks in the world as unhealthy while others have stated that it’s a marketing scheme. A recent study published by The Guardian has claimed that we can drink up to 14 coffees a day and not really suffer any downsides, unlike wine that even a glass a day could drastically reduce our heart health.

Well, there are many things about coffee, really, and there is no one opinion for now. But such is the life of science. Scientists love to doubt and as a result, they go digging. The biggest question that we ask ourselves is whether coffee can really help you wake up.

The beverage has long been promoted as the surest way to wake up and enjoy your day. Yet, many people are complaining that coffee is no longer doing the trick for them. What are the reasons behind this?

#1 High Caffeine Build-Up

It’s just one of the wonders of our bodies. If we have consumed enough caffeine, then caffeine drinks are not very likely to make much of a change, it’s the way our bodies work – plain and simple. Now, there is no need to complain when that happens. What we need to do is just wind down the number of coffees we consume and perhaps try other nourishing and revitalizing drinks in the morning – such as natural juice and green tea.

To be honest, most researches agree that the best drink you can choose is of course plain old water. Water is by far the most nourishing and revitalizing drink and there are no two ways about this. We mostly take coffee, because we can’t get enough proper sleep.

This is not necessarily because we don’t have the time to sleep well. No, it’s mostly a physical result of a psychological reason – we don’t like going to bed early only to go to work the other day. We are a species that defies order and discipline.

#2 Too Much Sugar Drinks

One of the reasons people develop rather lasting immunity to caffeine is because of sugar drinks. If you are drinking 1 liter of Coca Cola, a mug of coffee won’t do anything for you. It may sound a little harsh – and excessive – but it’s the truth. The sugar you take in with a glass of Coca Cola doesn’t even come close to a coffee, or even the other way around. Yet, the boost you get from Coca Cola wears off quicker.

And here comes the problem. If you have been imbibing Coca Cola, how do you expect coffee to do the trick for you? Want coffee to have the same nourishing effect again? Cut down on the sugary drinks, then!

#3 Some People Are Born with Immunity

There are some people who just don’t get affected by coffee and caffeine. This is the type of person who needs plenty of sleep to get through their day. Believe it or not, though, sleep is the best way to feel revitalized. No amount of energy drinks, sugary sodas and coffee would help you beat the effects of a good old-fashioned natural sleep.

Let’s say that you need a locksmith to help with your car. You go to Google and type in “car locksmith near me”. The person who arrives once you have placed the call is visibly tired as he is mostly doing emergency gigs such as this one. No matter how many cups of coffee your locksmith expert drinks, only a good night’s sleep will bring him back to his optimal form. You can expect these experts to be very capable of sorting out any trouble, even when tired but we recommend you to make sure the locksmith that comes to you is fully rested and professional.

This is not the point. What we mean is that coffee is delicious and it will help you pull through a difficult day. Plus, the hot, aromatic drink is unrivaled when it comes to its taste, but it can’t sort out all our problems that pertain to not having had enough proper sleep on any given day!

Thankfully, there is a rather simple solution for that – a cup of coffee and going early to bed. And if coffee doesn’t help you much, then focus on the latter!
