Roasting on a Sample PRO 100 will enhance your connection with your coffees and give you just the right amount of control. Its easy and intuitive operation gives you a sense of authenticity, freedom and pleasure.
You can extract data but data doesn’t control your roast. The control panel is modern, yet roasting is by open traditional drum where you can easily sample, smell, hear the sizzling and cracking and literally tune in with your coffees.
Our precision-engineered sample roasters unlock the distinct, layered flavors that define each of your coffee samples. True coffee roasting begins with the perfect roasting method. Drum roasting enhances depth and complexity, creating a rich, unforgettable cup. This gold-standard technique optimizes air flow, heat transfer, and time, allowing beans to reach their full potential.
The movement of coffee beans during roasting plays a crucial role in achieving masterful results. A specially designed shovel mechanism gently moves beans horizontally through the drum from front to back. This precise motion minimizes drum contact, ensuring even heat distribution. The controlled flow of hot air, guided through and around the roasting chamber, primarily roasts the beans by convection. The result is a smooth, balanced cup with vibrant aromas and rich depth—every single time.
Just like the larger drum roasters, our miniature Sample PRO 100 version brings out the best of each bean so that you can make good judgments in your lab. When sample roasting, a window of 8-15 minutes is optimal for unlocking the full complexity of coffee flavors. Rushing the process risks losing the Maillard reaction and caramelization—two essential chemical reactions that develop deep chocolate undertones, caramel-like sweetness, and bright fruit-forward acidity. This careful timeframe allows the coffee’s natural sugars, acids, and aromatic compounds to fully emerge, ensuring a rich, nuanced cup that faster roasting methods simply cannot replicate.
Our drum roasters are designed with unmatched precision, ensuring repeatability in every batch. You can achieve the same perfect roast time after time, maintaining consistency no matter the volume.
Our Sample Roaster is designed to maximize flavor through a carefully controlled roasting process:
From artisanal small-batch roasters to large-scale commercial or Industrial operations, drum roasting is the preferred choice for those who refuse to compromise on quality. Today, about 80% of all coffee worldwide is roasted by drum. Roasting samples by this method, by majority, puts you in the same shoes as other coffee friends in the supply chain; where information about profiles can be shared on the same basis.
With complete control over the roasting profile, our sample roaster allows you to highlight the unique characteristics of every coffee variety—ensuring consistency, reliability, and a truly unforgettable cup.
Drum roasting isn’t just a technique—it’s a commitment to excellence. Whether you’re sample roasting, crafting small artisan batches or scaling up for high-volume production, this method guarantees precision, consistency, and unparalleled flavor in every batch.
